You can play without an account, and then your progress stays on your own device. If you choose to log in, we store your email and your game progress so it follows you to other devices. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't sell or share your data.
When you log in with Google or an email link, we store your email address, your garden nickname and your game progress (scores, streak, best depths and unlocked packs). With Google, we only receive your email address and basic profile, never your password. We use this only to run your account. It's held by our database provider, Supabase, in its London data centre. Logging in keeps a small sign-in token in your browser's storage so you stay logged in. You can delete your account and everything stored with it any time from the Log in screen, and it's removed straight away (except purchase records, which we keep without your email for accounting).
To save your scores, streak, unlocked packs, settings and garden name, Rooted uses your browser's local storage. This stays on your device and is never sent to us. You can delete it any time with Settings › Reset my garden, or by clearing your browser data.
Our host, Cloudflare, receives your IP address and basic request details (like your browser type) when you load the game, to deliver the site and keep it secure. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't identify you. The game's fonts load from Google Fonts, so Google also sees your IP address when the page loads.
If you email us, for example to report a missing answer, we use your email only to reply, and delete it when it's no longer needed.
Rooted is suitable for all ages and works fully without an account. Accounts are for players aged 13 and over; younger players can keep playing without one. We ask everyone to use a nickname, not their real name, for their garden.
Under UK data protection law, you can ask what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Payments are processed by Stripe, which handles your card details under its own privacy policy; we never see them. We keep a record that your account bought Rooted Full, the amount, and the Stripe reference, so we can unlock it on your devices, handle refunds, and meet tax and accounting rules. We keep purchase records for as long as the law requires, even if you delete your account.
If we change how we use your information, we'll update this policy and the date at the top.

The daily dig is free to play. Please play fairly: don't try to break the game, copy its answer lists, or use it in a way that harms other players.
Answer lists and rarity scores are our best judgement and may change. Scores saved on your device can be lost if you clear your browser data.
Rooted Full is a one-off purchase (£3.99, unless a different price is shown at checkout) that unlocks every past dig in the archive, unlimited free play, and all theme packs, including packs added later. It is not a subscription. You need an account to buy it, and it is linked to that account, so log in with the same account on any device to use it.
Payments are handled securely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
Because Rooted Full is digital content that unlocks straight away, by buying it you agree to get access immediately and you understand that this means you lose the usual 14-day right to cancel once it is unlocked. If something goes wrong with your purchase, or it doesn't unlock, email us and we'll put it right or refund you. Voucher codes are issued at our discretion and have no cash value.
The game, its artwork, music and prompt lists belong to Rooted. You're welcome to share your results and screenshots.
We provide Rooted as it is and may change or pause it. To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for any loss from using it. Nothing here limits your legal rights as a consumer.
Rooted is not affiliated with or endorsed by any brand, studio, publisher or rights holder mentioned in answers. Character and brand names appear as text only, to identify them; no logos or artwork are used.
